Gender sensitivity in urban mobility planning

There are many types of barriers in the urban transport system that affect vulnerable groups - the women, the elderly, children, and the disabled. Their travel behaviour has its specifics, and mobility planning should respect these specific needs and implement measures that reduce the inequalities in mobility. Our article shows, on the example of three European cities, that achieving (social) sustainability means taking vulnerable groups into account and reflecting their needs also in transport planning and public life in general. We argue that the gender sensitive approach is still missing in the practice of Czech mobility planning.
